The Conversation that Changed Everything
I wish I could tell you I always knew what I wanted to do.
That I had some crystal-clear vision for my business and a five-year plan with color-coded tabs.
But the truth? I was confused. Like really confused.
There were so many things I loved like cooking, connecting and creating spaces that feel like home. I knew I had a heart for helping women feel seen and safe. But how was I supposed to turn that into something successful? Something real? Something that didn’t feel like just throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping it stuck?
I remember sitting with my friend Annie one day, basically venting. (Okay, maybe not “basically.” I was full-on complaining.) I told her I felt stuck. Passionate, but paralyzed. I’d tried reaching out to a few coaches, hoping someone would help me untangle the knots in my brain and was even turned down by someone I thought I’d be thrilled to work with. Ouch.
That’s when Annie said, “You need to meet Chelsey ”.
She went on to explain to me that Chelsey did Enneagram typing and clarity coaching. That she could help me understand how I’m wired, how I show up, and how to align that with the work I’m meant to do.
I asked her if she was talking about Chelsey Debruin-Colbert. I knew that name. I had actually met Chelsey years ago as a consultant for Mary Kay. We crossed paths at a seminar in Dallas, and even though it had been a while, I remembered how kind and grounded she was. The way she carried herself stuck with me. She wasn’t just smart, she was safe. And in that moment, everything clicked. I wasn’t just excited to work with her…I felt at peace. Like this was someone I could actually trust to help me untangle all the things I hadn’t been able to figure out on my own.
The second Annie started describing what is was that Chelsey did, I knew.
Like knew knew.
Not the logical “this sounds like a good idea” kind of knowing. But the full-body, goosebumps, “this is what I’ve been looking for” knowing. The kind that doesn’t wait around for pros and cons lists. It just says: Yes. This is it.
And then, no joke, not even a few minutes later, Annie got an email from Chelsey.
She said she was going to stop offering Enneagram typing soon and only had a few spots left.
I couldn’t sign up fast enough.
I told Annie, “Forward me that email right now.” I didn’t need more time to think. My body already said yes.
It felt like something bigger than me was moving the pieces. A nudge from God. A whisper saying, “This is the next step.”
And honestly? It was.
That one decision changed the way I see myself. It helped me stop trying to fit into someone else’s business model and start building something that actually felt like me.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re so close to something meaningful, but can’t quite reach it, I get it. I’ve been there. And this story? It’s just the beginning of how I started to find my way out.
With Love,
Savanna
