Savor Society: Cookie Decorating Class Recap

She Wasn’t That Good at Cooking…

What a night! Our Cookie Decorating Class with Jessica from Sweet Dough a Dozen was such a sweet reminder of why gathering around food matters so much.

We laughed, we learned, and we decorated cookies that were almost too pretty to eat (almost). But the real magic wasn’t in the frosting tip, it was in the stories we shared.

One theme that came up again and again was how many of us grew up with moms who weren’t exactly culinary queens. For many of us, that’s what pushed us into cooking ourselves. Food became our way of creating what was missing: not just meals, but connection, creativity, and care.

That’s the heart of nights like these. Food gives us more than recipes, it gives us each other.

Stories and Memories Shared

One of the sweetest parts of the evening was hearing about everyone’s special food memories. Some shared dishes that reminded them of home, others laughed about childhood kitchen disasters, and many of us reflected on how cooking has become a way to connect more deeply with those we love.

The stories weren’t just about ingredients, they were about the love, humor, and history baked into them. It was such a powerful reminder that food connects us across time and generations, turning even the simplest moments into treasures.
