What If Joy Wasn’t a Luxury but The Starting Point?

There’s something about a quiet kitchen at sunset. The hum of conversation, the clink of utensils, the smell of garlic warming in olive oil. It hits differently when you’re gathered with women who are there to be real.

Not perform. Not hustle. Just be.

I've been thinking about how often we treat joy like a reward and something we only deserve after everything is perfect, after the to-do list is clear, after the relationship is healed, after we’ve proven ourselves.

But what if joy is actually the beginning?

What if it’s not the prize, but the portal?

That question has been stirring in me lately, especially as I guide women through meals and moments that feel like home. Not the kind of home with curated perfection, but the kind where there’s soup on the stove, your shoes are off, and your heart gets to breathe.

That’s the magic I want to create and honestly, need myself.

Because when women feel safe enough to laugh, cry, and connect without pretending… something shifts.

The energy in the room softens.

The guard comes down.

And the deeper conversations, the ones about what we want, what we’re scared of, what we’re done apologizing for start to happen.

These moments matter. They’re not just “nice.” They’re necessary. Because we live in a world that’s pretty good at numbing us out. Disconnection is easy. Distraction is everywhere.

But connection? That takes intention. It takes presence. It takes someone going first.

So here I am, going first again and saying joy is allowed now.

Not when things are fixed. Not when you feel fully ready. Now.

And if that feels hard, I want you to know this: it’s okay to start small. Light a candle while you cook. Text that friend you’ve been missing and say yes to a night that feeds your soul, not just your schedule.

I don’t believe we need more rules. I believe we need more room.

Room to gather. Room to rest. Room to remember what it feels like to enjoy your own life again.

That’s the kind of joy I’m building my work around and inviting you into.

Because connection isn’t a luxury either.

It’s the soil where joy takes root.

And you, friend, are allowed to bloom.

As a bonus here is my favorite Pina Colada Recipe created by me, because Pina Coladas always bring me Joy!
